The City of Round Rock seeks a seasoned, progressive leader to be its new Assistant Director of Planning and Development. This position is the result of a recent reorganization to combine the divisions of Planning and Development Services to better serve the development community. Under general supervision from the Director, the Assistant Director will provide management and oversight of all planning and civil engineering responsibilities relating to land development. The Assistant Director will resolve internal and external conflicts that arise during the process to facilitate successful, compliant, and timely land development approvals. Work involves managing staff, working directly with outside contractors, businesses, and consultants, and providing professional advice to developers.

The selected candidate must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in urban planning, civil engineering, economic development, landscape architecture, public administration, construction science, or a related field and must have eight or more years of increasingly responsible experience in facilitating land development in the public and/or private sector. A master’s degree in a related field may substitute for two years of experience. A candidate with AICP certification or a P.E. license is preferred.
