The City of Irving’s Parks and Recreation Department currently operates with the following divisions: Parks, Recreation, Athletics, Aquatics, Litter/Corridor Maintenance and Special Events. The City seeks a strong leader with a passion for public service and community to become the next Parks and Recreation Director. The Parks and Recreation Director is responsible for a department of 370 employees and a proposed budget of $18.5 million for fiscal year 2019.

The next Parks and Recreation Director will require exceptional leadership, communication and facilitation skills and a strong sense of vision. The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in recreation, parks and leisure service, public administration or other related field. Advanced degrees and/or certifications in parks and recreation-related fields are preferred. Additionally, a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible supervisory and management experience in parks and recreation is required. The salary for this position is $107,808+ depending on qualifications and experience.
