Boynton Beach, Florida, is a dynamic, culturally diverse coastal community covering 16.5 square miles in the center of Palm Beach County. The City is home to 73,992 and is a part of the Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach metropolitan area, which has a total population of 6 million.

The City of Boynton Beach operates under the council-manager form of government. The Police Department has 155 sworn police officer positions, 53 non-sworn professional staff positions, and an FY2017-2018 budget of $30.4 million.

The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, business administration, or a closely related field as well as 15 years of certified law enforcement experience, 3-5 years of which must have included command level experience in a law enforcement agency. Certification as a police officer from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is required or must be obtained within one year. A valid Florida driver’s license is also required or must be obtained within 15 days of hire. A master’s degree and/or successful completion of FBI National Academy (FBINA) and/or Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP) are preferred. The salary range for this position is $99,662 - $149,494, depending on qualifications and experience.
