Ideally situated along the picturesque St. Johns River, Green Cove Springs Florida is located on the eastern border of Clay County and serves as its “County Seat”.  The city has a total area of 9.9 square miles, of which 2.5 miles is water.  Green Cove Springs is home to approximately 7,700 residents who enjoy scenic vistas, unmatched recreation opportunities, and friendly neighborhoods in a charming, small-town “Old Florida” setting.

The City of Green Cove Springs operates under the council-manager form of government, with the Council functioning as the governing body.  The City Manager is appointed by the City Council as the Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Green Cove Springs.  The city provides a full array of municipal services to include Electric Distribution, Water, Waste Water, Stormwater, Reclaimed Water, and Solid Waste with roughly 100 full & part-time employees with an Annual Budget of $33 million, including a General Fund of $8.5 million.

The ideal candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, or a related discipline and possess a minimum of three years of responsible professional managerial experience as a city or county government chief executive officer, an assistant city manager or deputy city manager or other senior management position with an organization of similar size and significant work in the public sector.  A master’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.  Florida experience is desired, but not required.  Residency within the city limits of Green Cove Springs or the city utility area within six months of appointment is required.
