Description
South Grayson Special Utility District (SUD) is currently seeking a General Manager to oversee the operations of the district. The SUD provides water to rural residential customers in an area east of Van Alstyne, Texas.
Van Alstyne, population 3,806, represents country-living at its finest, with easy access to city amenities. Van Alstyne boasts gently rolling hills, tree-lined neighborhoods, and an historic downtown with plenty of unique shops and beautiful parks. Located about an hour north of Dallas, Van Alstyne is also within 15 miles of two larger cities – McKinney (population 127,671) to the South and Sherman (population 38,407) to the North.
The SUD service area is approximately 60 square miles with 110 miles of service lines providing drinking water to 4,950 customers. The water system consists of 11 water wells with ground storage tanks and three elevated storage tanks. The SUD is governed by a five-member Board of Directors, each serving a three-year term. The General Manager serves as the Chief Executive Officer for the South Grayson SUD. The General Manager leads and directs all operations of the organization, provides professional and technical assistance to the Board of Directors, and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Qualified candidates should have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in business, management, accounting, engineering, public administration, or a related field. A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is preferred. The position requires 10 years of increasingly responsible experience in a water district or similar agency, with a minimum of five years of supervisory experience. The successful candidate must have a valid Class B Ground Water TCEQ operator’s license or have the ability to obtain within 12 months of employment. A Class C driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required. The General Manager must live within a 25-mile radius of SGSUD offices within 12 months of hire.
The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000 depending on qualifications and experience with an annual bonus available based on performance.
