The Sarasota County Tax Collector’s Office manages secure and efficient collection, reporting, and distribution of public funds. The Financial Management division oversees internal controls, accounting, budgeting, and audits.

Reporting to the Sarasota County Tax Collector, the Deputy Tax Collector – Financial Management will:

  • Lead the office’s financial strategy and planning functions
  • Oversee budgeting, cash flow, and investment operations
  • Supervise internal/external audits and ensure statutory compliance
  • Manage and mentor finance staff
  • Implement financial controls and technology upgrades

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in public sector finance, preferably within Florida’s governmental framework. They will demonstrate strategic foresight, strong fiscal stewardship, and the ability to lead high-performing teams.

Strong people management and a forward-thinking mindset are essential for success in

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years in governmental accounting or public financial management
  • Strong knowledge of Florida public finance laws and tax operations

Preferred:

  • Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO), CPA, or similar credential
  • Experience in a Florida Tax Collector’s Office or equivalent
  • Master’s degree in a related discipline

Annual Salary:

$170,156 – $202,060 DOE/DOQ
