Description

Portland, Texas is a city of more than 15 square miles located across the Harbor Bridge from Corpus Christi.  The City is everything you want in a family town with a current population of approximately 21,100.  Portland is located in San Patricio County and is included in the Corpus Christi Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Portland operates under the council/manager form of municipal government.  Under the direction of the City Manager and Assistant City Manager, the Director of Public Works oversees the operations of the Public Works Department.

The ideal candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.  In lieu of a degree, the City will consider exceptional candidates with TCEQ “A” or “B” surface water and wastewater licenses.  Consideration will also be given to individuals with an engineering degree, a Texas P.E. or Texas E.I.T., A.I.C.P. or, municipal generalists (M.P.A/ from an accredited college/university and five years of related municipal experience in Texas).  Five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience is required.  The salary range for this position is $90,000-$108,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
