Addison is a full-service, home rule city operating under a Council- Manager form of government. The City Council is comprised of the Mayor and six Council members. 

The Deputy City Manager is a key position within the organization, and it is essential for the successful candidate to work closely with the City Manager and the other Deputy City Manager to carry out City-wide initiatives and set the tone and vision for City staff. Under the general direction of the City Manager, the Deputy City Manager is responsible for major decision-making in terms of setting long-range goals, policies, procedures, and priorities. Based on the selected candidate’s background and experience, the City Manager will determine specific departments that the new Deputy City Manager will oversee.

A bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, or a closely related field is required, along with a minimum of five years of experience as a city manager, assistant city manager, or department head. A master’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field is preferred. The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge of all aspects of municipal operations, budget development, and budget administration. Experience in financial management, strategic planning, and business processes is highly desired. The new Deputy City Manager will be required to reside within 15 air miles of the city’s boundaries within one year of hire date.
