Description

Portland, Texas is a city of more than 15 square miles located across the Harbor Bridge from Corpus Christi.  The City is everything you want in a family town with a current population of approximately 21,100.  Portland is located in San Patricio County and is included in the Corpus Christi Metropolitan Statistical Area.
 

Portland operates under the council/manager form of municipal government.  The Finance Director reports directly to the City Manager.  The Finance Director oversees the Finance Department, Human Resources, Utility Billing, and Municipal Court, and serves as the secretary of the Portland Community Center Complex Development Corporation.
 

The ideal candidate must hold a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field and have at least two years of progressively responsible professional financial experience, preferably in a governmental agency or utility; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field, with four to ten years of progressively responsible financial experience.  An equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills will be considered.  Supervisory experience is preferred.  A current Certified Public Accountant license is required.  Certification as a Government Finance Officer is preferred but not required.  Well-qualified candidates who are in the process of getting their certification will be considered; the applicant must obtain their license within 12 months.  The salary range for this position is $95,000-$108,000 Depending on qualification and experience.
