The City of Austin is committed to a Zero Waste goal to reduce the amount of trash sent to landfills by 90% by the year 2040. The City is seeking a strategic leader who is dedicated to providing excellent customer service to serve as Director of Austin Resource Recovery. The ideal candidate should have a strong business acumen and an ability to efficiently run this complex, self-supporting enterprise. As the City continues its fast-paced growth, this position will play a vital role in the organization as it seeks to improve operations and search for innovative solutions that focus on sustainable growth and a strong infrastructure.

The selected candidate must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, engineering, environmental science, or in a field related to the job, plus 5-7 years of management experience in municipal services and/or solid waste services, 2 years of which were in a managerial or executive capacity.
