Description
The City of Brighton, Colorado invites applications for the position of Assistant Utilities Director. The Assistant Utilities Director is an advanced professional position that directs, oversees, supervises, and coordinates the activities of employees of the Infrastructure Department Utilities Division, including utilities engineering, water and wastewater infrastructure maintenance, water and wastewater treatment operations, storm water engineering and infrastructure maintenance, and water resource operations. The Assistant Director is also responsible for technical work planning, prioritizing, and implementing the Utilities Capital Improvement program in the Infrastructure Department. This position must work well independently and in group settings, with peers and with the public, while providing excellent, respectful customer service and human relations skills, which support the City of Brighton's mission and values.

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a related field. Seven to ten years of progressively responsible experience in the management of utilities infrastructure including but not limited to design, construction, and maintenance of water/wastewater systems and facilities, storm water systems, and related utilities system functions and operations is required. The chosen candidate must be registered with the Colorado State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as a professional engineer (P.E.). The candidate must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record and must have the ability to complete FEMA ICS 100 and IS 700 training within six months of hire. A master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related field; three to five years of supervision of professional level engineers, technical, and maintenance staff; and three to five years of municipal utility infrastructure capital improvement project experience are preferred qualifications. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
