Mountain View Fire Rescue (MVFR) is a full-service fire department providing both fire and emergency medical transport services. MVFR has a service area of 184 square miles including the communities of Dacono, Erie, Mead, Niwot, and unincorporated areas of Boulder and Weld counties.
The District is governed by a citizen-elected Board of Directors consisting of five members representing the districts in which they reside. The Fire Chief is the Chief Executive Officer of the department and is responsible to the Board of Directors.
The ideal candidate must have a master’s degree from an accredited institution in fire protection, management, business, organizational change/leadership, public administration, or a relocated field, or the ability to achieve a master’s degree within two years of hire, is required. At least ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience, with seven (7) years of administrative, finance, and management duties as a Chief Fire Officer in a similar-sized community, or as an Assistant Chief in a larger community, are required. The selected candidate must have the following certifications and/or License:
Valid Colorado driver’s license
State of Colorado EMT
CPR certification per the CPR Healthcare Providers Protocols
NIMS 400 level incident command designation
State of Colorado Haz-Mat Operations
Designation as a Chief Fire Officer by the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE)
Graduation from the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer (EFO) program
