Largo, Florida, is a vibrant city of approximately 83,000 residents located in the heart of Pinellas County. The City of Largo operates under a council-manager form of government, with a Mayor and six City Commission members. The City Manager oversees day-to-day operations and implements policy direction set by the Commission.

The Office of Performance & Budget (OPB) provides citywide leadership in strategic planning, budgeting, performance management, procurement, intergovernmental relations, and sustainability. The new Performance & Budget Director will report directly to the Assistant City Manager.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in local government budgeting, performance management, and strategic planning—ideally in a High-Performance Organization (HPO) environment. They will be a forward-thinking leader who fosters innovation, promotes accountability, and empowers their team to grow.

REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
• Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in public administration
• At least five (5) years of recent supervisory/management experience in local government budgeting
• Valid Driver’s License

PREFERRED:
• Master’s degree in Public Administration, Business, or related discipline
• Experience with performance management systems, strategic planning, and Priority-Based Budgeting (PBB)
• Professional development such as Leadership ICMA, Certified Public Manager, or similar program
• Change management or process improvement certifications (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma)
• Experience with procurement systems, grant strategy, and “What Works Cities” certification

Largo offers a desired starting salary range of $150,000 - $160,000, based upon qualifications and experience.
