Ideally situated in northeast Texas just two hours east of Dallas and 45 minutes west of Shreveport, Louisiana, the City of Marshall has a population of just over 24,000. The City serves as the county seat for Harrison County, which has a population of over 68,000. Marshall is a home rule city operating under a commission-manager government. The City Commission is composed of seven members, including the Mayor, who serve two-year, staggered terms. The Commission hires a professional City Manager to manage the day-to-day operation of the City. The City Manager, City Judge, City Attorney, and City Secretary/Finance Director report directly to the Commission.

The selected candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field; a master’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field is preferred. This position requires six to nine years of progressively responsible supervisory experience, including experience as a City Manager or Assistant City Manager in a municipality of similar or larger size.
